One of our favorite awards we give out each year is the Novice Teacher of the Year award. It is awarded to the Cedar Creek teacher with less than three years teaching experience that most exemplifies the spirit of excellence we expect from all of our teachers here at the Creek. This year's winner is no exception!
Our novice teacher of the year is constantly working with colleagues and trying to come up with assignments and lessons that will peak students' interest. Most people don't know it, but he's quite a wordsmith. He's been known to get to work in the morning before 6:00 am in order to set up his lesson for the day, and he's always on the move. Tracking him down can be hard to do! If he's not in his classroom, he can be found grading assignments in E5, harvesting vegetables in the lobby, or smoking chicken, pork, and ribs outside the cafeteria. Or perhaps, you'll be able to find him outside in the food truck with some students, putting his patented Pirate Sauce on burgers!
No one walks by his class without getting hungry!
Congratulations to this year's Novice Teacher of the Year, Mr. Ed VanEmbden.
