Mr. Groeber

My name is James Groeber.  I have been teaching in district since 2007.

I started my teaching career in 2004 at Millville High School where I instructed various science classes and also served as a freshman football coach and assistant basketball coach.   While at Millville, I had the pleasure of coaching MLB Rookie of the Year, AL MVP, & All Star Mike Trout.

In 2007 I was hired as an assistant football coach at Oakcrest High School and was later hired at the district's Alternative Program to teach special education and science.  While at Oakcrest, I also served as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the football team.  In my final two years at Oakcrest, we advanced to the NJSIAA Group IV Finals in 2010, and appeared in the playoffs in 2011.

In 2012, I transferred to Cedar Creek High School.  I moved from coaching to officiating and currently am an assistant golf coach.

Prior to teaching, I attended Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA where I was a member of the football team.  I transferred to ACCC, and then to the Richard Stockton College of NJ where I majored in Biology and earned a minor in Marine Science.  I later attended Jersey City University's graduated studies program in which I earned my Special Education Masters Degree.

The following are examples of the violation:

Examples:

o Copying a source without using citations.

o Copying and pasting directly from Chat GPT or other generative AI.

o Changing only minor words in a work without crediting the source.

• Cheating: Any attempt, whether successful or not, to obtain, or to assist with the obtainment of, unauthorized assistance in any formal academic endeavor.

Examples:

o Actively seeking the answers for a test, quiz, or other assignment and using those answers in order to obtain a better grade.

o Showing someone a homework assignment, paper, or a quiz that could assist them without consent from a teacher.

• Fabrication: The falsification of data, information, or citations in any formal academic endeavor.

Example:

o Making up data on a homework assignment or lab report. Altering data or citations in a paper.

• Deception: Failing to provide accurate information to a teacher or school administrator in any formal academic endeavor.

Example:

o Actively deceiving a teacher or school administrator about the authenticity or origin of an assignment.

Academic Integrity Consequences:

• A violation of the Academic Integrity policy will result in an immediate zero on the assignment and an immediate call home from the teacher to inform the parent of the violation.

• After conferencing with the teacher, the student will have the opportunity to re-do the assignment (or a similar assignment). The grading for that assignment will begin at 60%.

• A record of the violation will be kept in the building and could serve to preclude the student from being a candidate for the National Honor Society, their respective World Language Honor Society, or receiving academic awards in the future.

• A repeat offense at any level will disqualify a student from any academic award or membership in any Honor Society.
